Mjölnir (Old Norse: Mjǫllnir) is the hammer of Thor, the Norse god associated with thunder. Mjölnir is depicted in Norse mythology as one of the most fearsome and powerful weapons in existence.

Though most famous for its use as a weapon, Mjölnir played a vital role in Norse religious practices and orders rituals. Its use in formal ceremonies to bless marriages, births, and funerals is described in several episodes within the Prose Edda.
