Colombian handbag, orders mochila

This bag is called mochila in Colombia. This is the traditional dovecote bag. It is made by women in the Wayuu community. It is an ancestral know-how that is passed down from generation to generation.

This 100% cotton bag is entirely handmade. Each bag is unique. Women make plain models and others with patterns.

We go directly to the site, in the Guajira Desert, in northern Colombia, in order to remove intermediaries and pay directly to craftsmen and their families.

The manufacture of these bags is the main source of income for this community.

We buy these bags at the prices demanded by the craftsmen. We do not negotiate bag prices and meet fair trade standards.
