SOUTHWEST POTTERY: Micaceous Pottery orders From New Mexico

This is a very nice small saucer made of micaceous clay from the Sangre de Christo Mountains near Taos. This saucer has incised marks that move from the interior of the saucer to the rim.
A genuine turquoise orders stone is set into the saucer below the markings. The shape of the saucer is elliptical. It is 4 1/4” x 4” and 1 1/2” high. It has a reddish coloration because it was fired at a higher temperature than is usually the case with micaceous pieces.
