"My paintings aren't “of” anything. But they are “about” something. Working meditatively, I'm primarily focused on light, depth, composition and texture. I resist literal representation, aiming instead for impressionistic themes of contemplation and internal journeys. When people see their own figures, themes or structures in my work it then becomes part of our shared human experience, which interests me more than just what comes out of my own head."
