These simple hoop earrings are very beautiful. They're made of upcycled 1 1/2" orders genuine Bakelite (tested) loops in black. They have a lovely rounded shape and a really gorgeous finish; extremely shiny and brand new-looking. The simple bail and fish hook earring, both in sterling give these earrings a clean, modern feel.

Bakelite is a vintage, early plastic that was invented in Yonkers, NY by chemist Leo Baekeland in 1907. It is no longer made, and this loop is from a limited supply of vintage stock. Today, Bakelite is prized for its patina and is considered highly collectible.
