Stormy orders Seas of Falmouth

The moody stormy looking sea off the coast of Falmouth, Cornwall made for an epic seascape. Deep greens and grey sky created an atmospheric scene that I painted in an expressive style. Overlooking Castle beach and looking out to sea on this stormy day inspired me to paint orders this scene using acrylics onto a wooden canvas panel. I have painted the sides and added hanging hardware to the back so it can be hung without framing. Falmouth usually has calm seas so it was unusually choppy on this day.

I really enjoyed trying to capture the energy of the sea as it crashed in to Castle Beach. I mostly used brushwork, but finished off some highlights and detail using a palette knife.
