Congo for Christ (1895) Myers, Rare First Edition Illustrated Congo orders Mission Antique Decorative Victorian History Book

A very rare, original edition of The Congo for Christ: The Story of the Congo Mission, by Rev. John Brown Myers. Published before 1895 by S. W. Partridge & Co., undated first edition with preface.

Bound in original illustrated stamped red cloth with gilt title to front. Illustrated publishers end papers with 1895 prize plate to front paste down. Black and white wood cut illustration plate and several other plates throughout. Text pages are bright and largely clear, with some light age wear, handling marks and pencil markings within. The odd bent page corner, foxing to end papers and fly pages.

Binding within text block is loose, with heavy wear to internal joints. Bumping, turning and chipping to corners. Scratching and rubbing around boards orders, sunning and rubbing to the spine. Please see pictures for more details or message if you have any questions!
