The lotus blossom is a symbol of virtue in some cultures. This one is made of silk in an apricot color. It is appliquéd by hand onto a cotton and silk background. The quilting in the background reproduces the shape of the lotus petal. This piece is stapled onto an artist canvas, so it has a nice, firm, flat look, with a bit of dimension.

The tips of the petals are colored by hand in a darker orange tint to add a dimensional "blush" to each petal.
